Auk Phansa, celebrated on the full moon of the 11th lunar month (October 7, 2025), marks the end of the Buddhist rainy retreat, or Vassa, in Thailand and Laos. This vibrant festival signifies the conclusion of a three-month period where monks remain in temples for meditation and study during the monsoon season. Devotees offer food, robes, and candles to monks, participate in candlelit processions, and release floating lanterns or small boats on rivers to honor water spirits and seek blessings.
